Pray for Peace in Syria

Many of you will by now have heard of the call to prayer and fasting for peace in Syria and throughout that world that Pope Francis announced on Sunday. (

The Pope urged all Catholics, Christians, and people of all faiths to join together as one people in prayer to the Lord.

As I wrote before, I am not certain the proper action to be taken but I know that peace is better than war.  I pray, therefore, that a peaceful resolution might be in order that will protect innocent civilians from violence and danger.

Prayer is so powerful that we cannot even begin to comprehend what it can do.

“For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”  (Matthew 17:20)

We do not know what will happen in Syria.  But with faith even the size of a mustard seed we can all join together to pray for peace!  Let us all join together and pray with all our hearts and souls and with the faith that God can do anything!

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” (Matthew 18:20)

Together in Christ we pray that the Holy Spirit will guide our world leaders so that the peace that can be found only in Christ will come to those suffering violence and destruction in Syria and throughout the world.

“For nothing will be impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37)

The whole sad, tragic situation in Syria is the result of a continuing natural gas pipeline, business competition gone deadly and insane. Iran, Iraq, and Syria recently agreed on a $10 billion natural gas pipeline from Iran through Iraq through Syria to European markets. At the same time Qatar, which has access to the same giant natural gas field that Iran does, wants to run a pipeline through Syria as well. The Israelis have recently discovered the massive natural gas field “Leviathan” in territorial waters of Mediterranean Sea, so they want part of European market as well. Because Syria has made an agreement with Iran and Iraq the competition has resulted in war and killing for control of Syria, for land to use a pipeline route to Europe. No-one is talking about this yet it is the reason for the human catastrophe in Syria.

Thank you for your comment…I am sure there is far more to the situation than I am aware of. Regardless of the reason behind the violence…I pray that peace will find a way. Thanks for reading and God bless!

Amen. Praying with you and in agreement on all you prayed in the post. May it be done in Jesus’ name!

    P.S. I LOVE Pope Francis!
